Woman dies of asphyxiation in Anantnag

Anantnag, Jan 25 (UNI) A woman died reportedly due to asphyxiation while her daughter had a miraculous escape at her house in this south Kashmir district, official sources said.

They said a 37-year-old woman, identified as Masooda, and her daughter were found unconscious at their Karewa colony Bijbehara in Anantnag Monday morning.

Both were immediately rushed to Sub District Hospital (SDH) where Masooda was declared brought dead. However, her daughter survived and later discharged by the doctors.

The woman had allegedly due to asphyxiation caused by a coal bukhari kept in the room for heating purpose.
The exact cause of her death was being ascertained, they said, adding that police has still registered a case and initiated proceedings.

About half a dozen persons have died due to asphyxiation in the valley in January this year.
