Kashmir: Two more die of heart attack, toll 15 in 2 weeks in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 13 (UNI) With the death of two more women due to heart attack in the past 24 hours, the death toll from the cardiovascular decease has risen to 15 in the past about two weeks in the Kashmir valley, where experts have warned increase in the cardiac arrest cases during winter due to severe cold in case precautionary measures are not taken.

Official sources said on Wednesday that a woman Mubeena (30) suffered a massive heart attack at her Sumbal in north Kashmir district of Bandipora. However, other family members immediately rushed her to hospital where she was declared brought dead.

They said another woman identified as Dilshada (40) also suffered a heart attack at her Naugam Chadoora house in Badgam district of Central Kashmir. She was also rushed to hospital where she was declared dead.

Three persons, including a sarpanch and a private school teacher, died due to cardiac arrest in the valley on January 10.

With these deaths, a total of 15 persons, mostly youth, died due to cardiac arrest in the valley during the past about two weeks.

The doctors and other experts have already advised people suffering from heart ailment to take extra precaution in winter, when chances of sudden heart attacks increases due to severe cold.

The Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) president Dr Nissar ul Hassan and other experts have warned increase in the heart attacks in the valley during winter due to severe cold. However, they expressed concern over the increase in the heart attacks among the youth.
