Bandipora police arrests drug peddler; psychotropic substance recovered

December 04: Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Bandipora have arrested a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.
A police party from Police Station Sumbal established a checkpoint at Naidkhai and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02D-6465 with one person on board. He has been identified as Sajid Ahmad Qureshi resident of Narbal Srinagar. Officers were able to recover 20 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Sumbal where he remains in custody. The accused is a Pharmacist by profession and is posted in CHC Hajin. Vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.172/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Sumbal and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
