Covid-19 patients admitted in SMHS allege they left by authorities on the mercy of God

Showkat Sahil
Srinagar, Sept 03:A group of Covid-19 patients who are undergoing treatment at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital (SMSH) on Thursday alleged they have been left on the mercy of God as none of the paramedic was available at the hospital on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
Talking to Kashmir News Service, a group of patients from ward No 09 said on Wednesday the patients were told to inject themselves of their own as no paramedic was available in the ward.
The patients also alleged that they are being told to purchase vital drugs from the market and also alleged the doctors at the hospital asked patients not to use the NS (Sodium Chloride Injection) as the supply in the hospital is “sub-standard”.
A patient requested not be named told KNS said when he asked the doctor about the use of NS, he denied and suggested it is not good for health.
“We are following advices of health experts and when they themselves stop us using hospital supply and suggest for to buy it from the market, what can a patient do that time”, a patient questioned.
Another patient who also wished not to be named said I am suffering from pneumonia m30 and has been admitted in the hospital. Suddenly we have been told to stop using hospital supply of NS which is very important drug for every patient. “If the supply is sub-standard and lethal for patients why hospital authorities purchased it”, patient told KNS.
He said due to nexus of hospital administration and medical suppliers, authorities have left pushed patients into risk.
It is here to mention that Covid-19 cases in Kashmir valley are increasing rapidly despite tall claims by Government that they are working on the frontline, however patients refuted the assertions and said Government has left patients into the mercy of God.
When KNS contacted Medical Superintendent SMHS Dr Nazir Chowdhary, he contested the allegations and said my office has not received such complaints. He said those having any sort of issue must come forward and approach the office so that matter will be taken up for resolution.
