Pulwama gunfight: Two militants, Four army men, civilian killed, operation on

Srinagar, Feb 18 (GNS): Two militants were killed in an ongoing operation at Pingleena area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.
Four soldiers including an officer of Major rank were killed and three other soldiers were injured in the encounter. A civilian Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat (46) has also been killed during the exchange of gunfight.
Official sources told GNS that two militants were killed in the operation so far.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police South Kashmir range Amit Kumar told GNS that two militant were killed in the operation.
He said that the bodies of the slain militants have been recovered along with as many weapons and other war like stores.
He said that the identity and group affiliation of the slain militants are being ascertained.
DIG further said that the searches in the area is still underway to find out if there is any more militant body.
A police officer earlier said that the gunfight broke out today morning after a joint team of army’s 55 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation following a “credible inputs” about the presence of two to three militants in the area. (GNS)
