Leaning Tree in Rajbagh Srinagar Sparks Safety Concerns Among Locals

Srinagar, April 1: A dangerously leaning tree along a busy roadside in the Rajbagh area of Srinagar has raised serious safety concerns among residents, shopkeepers, and pedestrians. The tree, located near Trends Rajbagh opposite the TVS showroom, is tilting significantly over the main road, posing a potential threat to public safety.

Locals fear that the unstable condition of the tree could lead to a major accident, particularly during strong winds or adverse weather. The stretch is known for heavy traffic and regular pedestrian movement, increasing the risk of injury, property damage, or even loss of life if the tree collapses.

“We see people passing under this tree every day. It’s just a matter of time before something unfortunate happens,” said a local shopkeeper, expressing frustration over the lack of action.

A pedestrian echoed similar concerns, stating, “It becomes especially risky during windy conditions. Authorities should act before it’s too late.”

Residents and business owners in the area have urged the concerned municipal and horticulture department to conduct an immediate inspection and take necessary steps such as pruning, reinforcing, or safely removing the tree.

The public has appealed for swift intervention to prevent any untoward incident and ensure the safety of commuters in this busy locality.
