Security Tightened as Republic Day Approaches

Srinagar, Jan 13,: Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, Khotibagh Police Station along with the 132 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force carried out a frisking and checking drive in parts of Srinagar on Tuesday.

Officials said the joint exercise was conducted as part of heightened security measures in view of the upcoming national event. During the drive, security personnel carried out frisking of pedestrians and checking of vehicles at designated points to ensure safety and maintain law and order.

The operation aimed at preventing any untoward incident and strengthening the overall security grid in the city. Police officials said such checking drives are being intensified across Srinagar as Republic Day approaches.

Authorities urged the public to cooperate with security personnel during checks, stating that the measures are precautionary and meant for the safety of all. [KNT]
