Anantnag, Jan 12,: Security forces on Monday conducted a comprehensive mock drill at Anantnag Railway Station to assess emergency preparedness and reinforce passenger safety measures, officials said.
The exercise was aimed at evaluating the coordination and response capabilities of various security and emergency agencies in the event of a potential threat or unforeseen incident at the busy railway facility. Personnel from multiple units participated in the drill, simulating real time scenarios including evacuation procedures, access control, and swift neutralisation of hypothetical threats.
Officials said the mock drill focused on testing standard operating procedures, communication mechanisms, and the ability of personnel to manage crowds during emergency situations. Special emphasis was laid on ensuring minimal disruption to passengers while maintaining a high level of alertness and preparedness.
During the exercise, security teams practised controlled evacuation of platforms and waiting areas, inspection of suspicious objects, and medical response protocols. Emergency responders also rehearsed coordination with railway authorities to ensure seamless handling of any crisis.
Authorities said such drills are conducted periodically to keep security personnel well prepared and to identify gaps, if any, in existing safety arrangements.
They added that feedback from the exercise would be reviewed to further strengthen security measures at vital public infrastructure locations. [KNT]
