Political tensions run high in Srinagar as NC, Apni Party workers face off

Srinagar: A heated confrontation erupted outside the Srinagar Municipal Corporation office today as workers from the National Conference (NC) and Apni Party virtually clashed while their candidates filed nomination papers for the upcoming elections.
NC’s Mushtaq Guroo and Apni Party’s Syed Altaf Bukhari, accompanied by top leaders Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Ghulam Hassan Mir, respectively, were present at the scene. The atmosphere was electric, with hundreds of workers from both parties chanting slogans and waving party flags.
However, the situation quickly turned ugly as some workers from both sides began pushing and abusing each other. The timely intervention of police personnel prevented further escalation.
The Chanapora Assembly segment is likely to witness a close contest between Bukhari and Guroo. (KNT)
