We will restore Statehood to J&K soon: Rahul Gandhi

Srinagar: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, addressing a rally in Ramban district, stated that J&K is the only State in India’s history to have been divided into two Union Territories—Ladakh and J&K.

He was quick to add that the INDIA bloc will pressure the BJP to restore Statehood to J&K
“The INDIA bloc will work to build pressure on the BJP to restore Statehood to J&K,” he said, adding that while Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Arunachal Pradesh were made states, J&K was divided into two UTs.
He also expressed interest in spending more time in Ramban, saying, “We are fighting the BJP and its ideologies. Wherever BJP promotes hatred, we will promote unity.” He promised to return to Ramban after the elections.
“Even if the BJP does not agree, we will continue to apply pressure until they have no choice but to restore Statehood,” he said. He also criticized the high electricity fees in J&K despite local power production, calling it unjust.
Rahul Gandhi remarked on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s previous claims of invincibility, noting that the united stance of the INDIA bloc had affected Modi’s confidence and led him to form alliances.
He expressed confidence in the INDIA bloc’s ability to remove Modi from office soon, stating they had achieved a psychological victory over him.
