Drug De-addiction awareness camp cum Moral Excellence Seminar held at GBHSS, Bijbehara

Anantnag, Mar 23: In a bid to eradicate drug addiction from the society, District Administration Anantnag under the banner of District Social Welfare Office Anantnag and Tehsil Social Welfare Office Bijbehara held one day workshop to aware the masses regarding the ill effects of drug abuse and its mitigation.

The main objective of the program was to aware the common masses about the ill effects of drugs so that they can be eradicated from society. Many students on the occasion threw light on the topic that drug abuse is evil and the need of the hour is to give more awareness so that people will remain away from the deadly menace.

The  guests who were present on the occasion included  SDPO Bijbehara; Principal Boys higher Secondary school , Bijbehara;   BDC Chairman, BMO,  Excise inspector Sajad Ahmad, Tehsil Social Welfare  Officer,  Nodal Officer Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan Ranjan Jotshi, Social workers of Social welfare Department, Rouf Hamid Shah , Aday Bhat, Lalit Bakshi , staff members of TSWO Bijbehara, Anganwadi workers, Asha workers besides civil society members from the concerned area and other dignitaries participated in the event.

Dr. Mudasir Aziz ( Clinical Psychologist),  resource person from Drug De-addiction Centre , Anantnag delivered a lecture to vulnerable section of society regarding awareness generation, recovery alternatives under National Action Plan for  Drug Demand  Reduction,  treatment facilities available in District Anantnag and counseling facilities available at Drug De-addiction Centre, Anantnag.

The programme was also attended by Hardas Bahar NGO which focused on skill development programmes among drop out students and vulnerable youth.

Rouf Ahmad Shah, Social worker from Social welfare Department delivered an impressive lecture regarding ill effects of drug abuse and its mitigation.

A pledge regarding drug abuse was also done by students and other participants present on the occasion.

Others who spoke on the occasion included PRI members,  religious leaders, representatives from Excise and  taxation, health department,  ICDS department,  education department, revenue department and  students of various schools.

Award Certificates, medals, mementos were presented to the students who participated in the seminar.

Vote of thanks was presented by the Principal of Boys Higher Secondary school, Bijbehara.
