EAM discusses Indo-Pacific, climate change, covid response in bilateral with New Zealand FM

New Delhi, Nov 5 : External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday held a virtual bilateral meeting with New Zealand Foreign Minister Nanaia Mahuta, during which they discussed covid responses, climate change, the Indo-Pacific and Commonwealth.

In a tweet, the EAM said: “A warm and productive virtual meeting with FM @NanaiaMahuta of New Zealand.

“Exchanges covered covid response, climate change, Indo-Pacific and Commonwealth.”

In May this year, the two countries had held Foreign Office Consultations in virtual mode when they decided to enhance the depth and momentum of engagement in areas of defence and security, counter-terrorism, cybersecurity and climate change.

Both sides had then exchanged views on various regional issues and reiterated the importance of closer cooperation for a rules-based international order and a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
