Hot, humid weather to prevail, brief rain spells likely: MeT

Day temperature remains above normal;  Srinagar records 30.5°C, Jammu 34.3°C

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness generally hot and humid weather over the coming days, with brief spells of rain and thundershowers at scattered places, the Meteorological Centre here said on Monday.

According to the latest forecast accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) brief spells of rain or thundershowers are likely at scattered places during the early morning and afternoon hours between August 25 and 28.

The weather activity is expected to increase slightly from August 29 to 31, when light to moderate rain and thundershowers may occur at scattered to many places, with brief intense showers possible during the early morning and afternoon hours.

The MeT said hot and humid conditions are likely to continue from September 1 to 2, with brief spells of rain or thundershowers at scattered places. Between September 3 and 5, similar weather is expected, though rainfall activity is likely to remain confined to isolated places.

The weather office cautioned that brief intense showers at localised places could trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides, particularly in vulnerable areas.
