Secretary Transport reviews Motor Vehicle Department’s functioning in Kashmir Division

Srinaagr:  Secretary, Transport Department, Avny Lavasa, conducted a thorough review of functioning of the Motor Vehicle Department in Kashmir Division here at Civil Secretariat.

During the review meeting, the Secretary deliberated in detail with the Transport Commissioner, Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Kashmir, Assistant Regional Transport Officers (ARTOs) and other field functionaries regarding the overall functioning of the department, service delivery and enforcement-related matters.

The meeting focused on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Motor Vehicle Department, with emphasis on timely clearance of pendency, delivery of citizen-centric services, strengthening of field-level enforcement, responsiveness to public grievances and ensuring greater transparency and accountability in departmental functioning.

The Secretary took stock of the status of various services and pending matters and directed the officers to ensure their time-bound disposal. The field officers were asked to adopt a proactive and citizen-friendly approach so that applicants receive services in a prompt, transparent and hassle-free manner.

Avny Lavasa also stressed the need for close monitoring of pendency at all levels, effective supervision of field offices and coordinated efforts among the officers and officials to improve the department’s overall performance.

The RTO Kashmir and other field functionaries apprised the Secretary of the functioning of their respective offices, key challenges and measures being undertaken to improve service delivery and enforcement.

During the meeting, the Secretary also reviewed the progress of construction of Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) buildings in various districts. She asked for early completion of the vital offices to strengthen the departmental infrastructure and improve public service delivery.

Avny Lavasa directed all the concerned officers to ensure strict compliance with the directions issued during the review. She asked for working collectively towards making the Motor Vehicle Department more efficient, responsive and citizen-centric.
