No Obstacle Will Be Allowed to Disrupt Fruit Trade: Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani

Srinagar, August: Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, on Thursday said the Jammu and Kashmir Government would ensure that no obstacle hampers the movement of fruit during the peak harvesting and marketing season, describing horticulture as the economic lifeline of the Union Territory.
During an on-ground inspection of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, the Advisor reviewed arrangements for the movement of fruit-laden trucks and interacted with growers, transporters and officials to assess the challenges faced in transporting perishable produce.
He said the government was committed to safeguarding the interests of the horticulture sector and would take all necessary measures to ensure the timely and uninterrupted movement of fruit to markets outside Jammu and Kashmir.
“Horticulture is the lifeline of Jammu and Kashmir, and we will not allow any hurdle to come in its way,” Wani said, assuring growers that their concerns would be addressed on priority.
The inspection comes amid repeated disruptions on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway due to adverse weather, with growers expressing concern over delays affecting the quality and market value of apple consignments during the ongoing export season. [KNT]
