Police Crack Theft Case Within 24 Hours in North Kashmir’s Sopore, Recover Stolen Property, Two Held

Baramulla: Sopore Police in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district have cracked a theft case within 24 hours after utensils were stolen from a house in Model Town, leading to the recovery of stolen property and the arrest of two accused individuals.

The case was registered after Police Post Bus Stand Sopore received a written application from Maqbool Rahman Beigh of Model Town, reporting that unknown persons had stolen utensils from his residence. Police Station Sopore registered FIR 260 of 2025 under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and initiated investigations.

During the course of inquiry, multiple suspects were detained for questioning. One of them, identified as Shabir Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ab Hamid Sheikh of Model Town D, admitted to his involvement. He informed investigators that part of the stolen material had been concealed at Cooperative Baagh Sopore, while some items had been sold. Acting on this input, police recovered the concealed property.

Further investigation led to the arrest of another accused, identified as Waseem Nabi Wani of Model Town D, who confessed to having received items stolen by Shabir Ahmad Sheikh. Additional stolen utensils were subsequently recovered from his residence.

Police said further investigation is underway. [KNT]
