New Delhi: 30 April :Amid escalating tensions after the Pahalgam terror attack, the Pakistan Army has violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC).

According to the Indian Army, Pakistan initiated small-arms fire during the night of 29-30 April across multiple sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.

Indian army responded to the unprovoked ceasefire violations “swiftly and proportionately”.

“During the night of 29-30 April, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small-arms fire across the Line of Control opposite the Naushera, Sunderbani and Akhnoor sectors in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Indian Army troops responded swiftly and proportionately,” the Indian Army said in a statement.

Further, the ceasefire violation was not limited to the Line of Control (LoC) as the Pakistani troops also resorted to firing on the International Border (IB) between the two countries.

“Further to the previous update about 29-30 April (Night), unprovoked small arms firing by the Pakistan Army was also reported from their posts across the Line of Control in Baramulla and Kupwara districts, as well as across the International Border in the Pargwal Sector. Indian Army troops responded appropriately,” the Indian Army said.

This comes as Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (29 April) gave full operational freedom to the Armed forces to decide on ‘mode, targets and timing’ of India’s response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed by terrorists.
