Over 8.15 lakh people visited Tulip Garden so far

Srinagar, April 22: The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar, Asia’s largest tulip garden, will close for visitors on April 24, marking the end of another successful season.

The garden, located in the foothills of the Zabarwan Range overlooking the Dal Lake, was thrown open to the public on March 26.

Sources told news agency KINS that the garden witnessed a record footfall this year, with over 8.15 lakh visitors in less than a month. Of the total, around 66 percent were domestic tourists from across the country, nearly one percent were international travelers, while the rest comprised local residents.

Officials said the surge in tourist arrivals reflects the growing popularity of the Tulip Garden as a major spring attraction in the Kashmir Valley. The bloom period typically lasts for about a month, depending on weather conditions.

Every year, the garden draws thousands of visitors eager to witness the vibrant display of over a million tulips of different varieties and colors spread over 30 hectares. (KINS)
