Omar Abdullah calls for clarity on INDIA Alliance agenda

Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday expressed concerns over the lack of clarity within the INDIA alliance, questioning whether the coalition was limited to the Lok Sabha elections.

“There is no clarity on the agenda and leadership of the INDIA bloc. No meeting has been convened to discuss these issues. It would be beneficial if a meeting is called to address this uncertainty,” Omar told reporters, as reported by news gathering agency KINS.

He further said that if the alliance was solely for the Parliamentary elections, it should conclude after its purpose is served. However, if the alliance extends to Assembly elections, the parties involved must work in unison.

Responding to a query about Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) contesting the Delhi Assembly elections separately despite being part of the INDIA alliance during the Lok Sabha elections, he clarified, “We have nothing to do with the Delhi elections. It is up to the political parties on the ground to decide their strategy to contest against the BJP.”

Referring to the previous victories of AAP in Delhi, he added, “The public of Delhi needs to decide how they want to move forward.”

The INDIA alliance, a coalition of opposition parties, was formed to present a united front against the BJP. (KINS)
