Sports Deptt’s Inter-District UT Level Gatka Martial Competitions Conclude

Jammu: The Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K successfully concluded the Inter-District UT Level Competition of Gatka Martial Arts for U-17 and U-19 Boys on Tuesday  at the New Indoor Complex, MA Stadium here. The event was organized under the patronage of Director General, Youth Services and Sports, Jammu & Kashmir Rajinder Singh Tara and was held under the guidance of Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, Jammu, Ved.

A total of 70 participants from various districts of Jammu and Kashmir UT showcased their skills in a competitive and spirited environment. The primary objective of this competition was to identify and select the most promising talent for upcoming events and future training programs.

The event was executed with the expertise of various officials and technical experts from the Department of Youth Services and Sports, including Hardev Singh, Harvinder Kour, Gurbachan Singh, Mayank Jain, Anit Kour, Davinder Singh, Amardeep Singh, and other technical officials from the Department.

Harvinder Kour, I/C DYSSO Jammu, addressed the participants, commending them for their dedication and sportsmanship. She encouraged the athletes to continue training with discipline, team spirit, and perseverance to achieve their future goals. The competition concluded with the distribution of medals and certificates to the winners and runners-up.

Gatka Fari Soti Team Event (U-19 Boys):

  1. Kathua District – First Position
  2. Samba District – Second Position
  3. Jammu District and Srinagar District – Third Position

Gatka Fari Soti Individual (U-19 Boys):

  1. Kathua District – First Position
  2. Samba District – Second Position
  3. Budgam District and Anantnag District – Third Position

Gatka Single Soti Team Event (U-19 Boys):

  1. Jammu District – First Position
  2. Pulwama District – Second Position
  3. Samba District and Budgam District – Third Position

Gatka Single Soti Individual (U-19 Boys):

  1. Samba District – First Position
  2. Kathua District – Second Position
  3. Jammu District and Budgam District – Third Position

The competition was a resounding success, highlighting the growing interest in Gatka martial arts among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
