LG must act swiftly to strengthen security, Says CM Omar Abdullah’s advisor Nasir Aslam Wani amid rising attacks

Srinagar: Amid a rise in violence across Jammu and Kashmir, Nasir Aslam Wani, advisor to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, on Saturday urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to swiftly strengthen the ‘security grid’.

Addressing the mounting attacks on civilians and encounters in the Valley, Wani expressed that the current situation is “very unfortunate” and stressed the need for swift action from the security apparatus.

“The attacks on innocent people and the encounters are very unfortunate,” Wani told media reporters as per news agency KINS.

He called upon the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, to take immediate steps to strengthen the security grid.

“Unified Command head, which is the LG, should streamline the security grid. I have made it clear that Jammu and Kashmir cannot be run under dual control,” he said.

Nasir said that the responsibility lies with the security forces to ensure stability.

“This is the work of the security grid. They have to fasten the security system; we have seen several attacks in recent days, and this needs to end.”(KINS)
