UT Level Inter-District Softball Tournament Kicks Off in Pulwama

Pulwama: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) J&K inaugurated the Inter-District Union Territory (UT) Level Softball Tournament on Monday at the Sports Stadium, here.
This tournament is seeing participation from 12 district teams which include 4 teams from the Jammu division as well. The event is part of the YSS Department’s ongoing initiative to promote softball as a growing sport in Jammu and Kashmir and to identify budding talent for future national-level competitions.
In his inaugural address, Choudhary Mohammad Qasim District Youth Services and Sports Officer Pulwama commended the young student participants for their enthusiasm and dedication to the sport. He underscored the significance of the tournament in fostering unity, sportsmanship, and excellence among athletes from across UT. He expressed his gratitude to the entire YSS Pulwama team for their flawless organization and encouraged the participants to demonstrate teamwork and fair play throughout the competition.
The tournament is being held under the leadership of the Director General of Youth Services and Sports J&K. Speaking on behalf of the department,
The tournament will continue until 28th of the current month. Teams will compete in various age categories, ensuring a highly competitive environment throughout the event. The growing interest in softball across the UT is evident from the impressive participation this year, further bolstered by the ongoing efforts of the Department of Youth Services and Sports to promote lesser-known sports alongside popular ones like football and cricket.
