Past elections held in hartals, shutdown, but today situation has grossly changed: Dr Jitendra Singh

Srinagar: BJP senior leader and MoS Dr Jitendra Singh Wednesday hit out at Congress and other opposition parties, saying past elections in times of Congress were held in hartals and shutdowns.
Singh expressed satisfaction over the ongoing situation in J&K, saying due to strenuous endeavours PM Modi has been able to ensure peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
“In last 25-30 years elections were held in hartals and shut down. Then shops were closed and people were frightened to step outside to use their franchise. But in times of PM Modi the situation has grossly changed. Today people have seen for the first time such a peaceful atmosphere wherein every section of society is coming forward for taking part in democratic exercise,” Dr Jitendra Singh as per KNS said.

He said in past some political parties grabbed power by getting only 10 percent votes. “I believe those getting 10 percent votes only cannot be termed as peoples’ representative”.

Hitting out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, BJP leader said that “Rahul Ji is on J&K visit today. He has addressed people in Ramban but unfortunately gave an unfounded statement. Today it is an era of evidence based facts. Congress leader has said that BJP and PM Modi is again spreading hate in J&K”.

“I want to make it clear that three families which include NC, PDP and Congress have disseminated hate and terror in J&K for last 30 years. BJP has transformed the UT and today if opposition leaders are able to walk freely in Lal Chowk it is due to efforts of BJP and PM Modi,” Dr Jitendra Singh added.
