Body Of Teenage Girl Retrieved From Jhelum River After Two-Day Search

Srinagar: The body of a teenage girl, who had allegedly jumped into the Jhelum River in the Habbakadal area of Srinagar on Wednesday, was retrieved this morning.

According to reports, the girl, whose name has not been disclosed, committed suicide by jumping into the river in the afternoon. A rescue operation was launched immediately by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and River Police Srinagar to retrieve her body.

After a two-day search, the body was finally recovered from the Jhelum River in the Bagiyas area of Chattabal this morning. The police have taken cognizance of the incident and the body has been shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.
