Baramulla Police Crack Down on Drug Abuse: 375 Cases Registered, 651 Arrests Made

Baramulla: Since January 2023, the Baramulla Police have been actively combating the drug menace under the ‘Drugfree Baramulla’ campaign. As part of this initiative, 375 cases have been registered under the NDPS Act, resulting in the arrest of 651 drug peddlers, including 122 hardcore peddlers booked under PITNDPS.

In a statement police spokesperson said that the police have seized contraband worth approximately Rs. 86.5 crores and attached properties worth Rs. 10 crores belonging to 20 notorious drug peddlers. These properties include residential houses, shopping complexes, vehicles, and land plots.

“Heroin abuse cases have seen a significant decline in Baramulla, a testament to the campaign’s success,” he added.
