567 crime-related incidents reported in 5 years, reveals Police data

Kulgam: From 2019 to 2023, 567 crime-related cases have been reported from South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, reveals police data.

In a statement, a police spokesperson said that 109 vehicles were stolen during this period while police managed to recover 92 stolen vehicles. The maximum number of vehicles which is 30 were stolen in 2021 but police recovered 26 cars out of them and handed them over to owners after fulfilling all legal formalities.

The district witnessed 171 theft cases during this period. At the same time, the number of burglary cases reported from 2019 to 2023 was 287.

The data was provided by police, in response to an application filed by social activist MM Shuja under the Right to Information Act.
