Soldier from Haryana dies after accidental firing at Handwara camp

Srinagar, April 6: A soldier from Haryana, who sustained injuries due to an accidental discharge from his service rifle at a camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, has succumbed to his injuries, officials said on Monday.
They said the soldier in his mid-twenties, sustained bullet injuries on Saturday night after an accidental discharge from his own service rifle at Army camp in Langate area of Handwara.
He was initially shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara for treatment and was later referred to Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar, for advanced medical care. However, the soldier succumbed to his injuries, they said.
There is no official word from Army so far on the incident.
