Trekker Dies, Companion Rescued Amid Heavy Rains in north Kashmir’s Baramulla

Tangmarg: A man died, and another was rescued after they got stuck amid heavy rains in the upper reaches of Tangmarg, in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, on Monday.

Reports said the duo went trekking in the upper reaches of Tangmarg, where they became stranded amid heavy rains. “One person died, while the other, who was injured, was later rescued and has been shifted to a hospital for treatment,” the reports added.

The deceased has been identified as Sahil shabir Lone son of Shabir Ahmad Lone of Pariswani. Legal formalities for his body are being completed, after which it will be handed over to his relatives for the last rites.

Notably, after a prolonged heat wave, parts of Kashmir have been lashed by heavy rains since last night, bringing relief from the heat.(KNS)
