PM Modi to address public rally in Srinagar on March 7

Srinagar:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Srinagar on March 7 and address a public Rally.

The venue of the PM’s rally has been shifted from Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention centre (SKICC) to Bakshi Stadium here, government and BJP sources said on Friday.

This will be Modi’s first visit to Kashmir after the J&K’s special status was scrapped in August 2019 and the erstwhile state was degraded into two union territories.

Modi visited Kashmir Valley last time in February 2019.

“Initially the public rally in Srinagar was planned at SKICC, but now the venue has been shifted to Bakshi stadium as large people are expected to attend and hear the PM,” said a BJP leader.

The party has already begun the preparations for the Modi’s mega rally in Kashmir.

BJP leaders held a meeting on Thursday to review the various arrangements for the PM’s visit.

“Party top J&K leadership will meet again on March 2 and review the final arrangements,” a BJP leader said.

The Prime Minister will also attend some official functions at SKICC and may also address beneficiaries of the Centre’s schemes.

Modi’s visit to the valley comes at a time when J&K is gearing up for the Lok Sabha polls.

Kashmir’s mainstream parties have been demanding to conduct Assembly elections in J&K alongside the Lok Sabha polls.

Last week, the Prime Minister visited Jammu where he addressed a public rally, laid the foundation stone of multiple projects worth over Rs 32,000 crore and also launched the first electric train.
