J&K’s Mission Directorate POSHAN launches nutrition awareness package

 

Srinagar :  In a bid to bring reforms in Mission POSHAN, J&K’s Mission Directorate POSHAN launched nutrition awareness package in the form of three flipbooks in Urdu, Hindi and English languages and a Teaching Learning Material (TLM) Kit along with handbook for Anganwadi Workers (AWWs).

It has been developed in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir Association of Social Worker (JKASW) supported by Confederation of Indian Industry Foundation (CIIF).

State Resource Person ECCE/FLN from JKASW, Ambreen Bashir, briefed about Teaching Learning Material included in the TLM Kit covering all the domains of development along with hand book which is an instructional manual for the effective use of TLM in multiple activities undergoing in AWCs.

The TLM kit fulfill all the developmental needs of the children from 3-6 years enrolled in Aanganwari centres and the AWWs can engage the children in joyful play so as to enhance their school readiness competencies especially in literacy and numeracy.

Further, nutritional flipbook covers all the category of Poshan beneficiaries including children, pregnant ladies, lactating mothers and adolescent girls to address the health and nutritional needs of these beneficiaries by adopting the healthy cooking and eating practices.

CII Foundation and its implementation partner JKASW has adopted four ICDS projects at Breng, Gool, Banihal and Narvaw in three districts viz. Baramulla, Anantnag & Ramban under the Anganwadi Adoption Programme.

All the District program officers (DPOs) along with CDPOs of the concern project, representatives from CII Foundation and JKASW were present in the said occasion, a statement said.
MD Mission Poshan J&K appreciated the efforts of CII Foundation and JKASW advised them to work more on growth monitoring of the children and sensitize the community members on the Nutritional package to enhance the healthy eating habits among all our beneficiaries.
