Drug Peddler Arrested in Awantipora, Over Eight Kg of Cannabis Recovered: Police

Srinagar: A drug peddler was arrested by police in South Kashmir Pulwama district’s Awantipora area after a recovery of eight kg and 300 grams of cannabis from his possession.

Police spokesperson said that a police party of Awantipora Police Station headed by a concerned SHO under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora arrested one drug peddler at Chersoo.

“Eight kgs and 300 grams of Cannabis was recovered from the possession of the arrested person,” said the police spokesperson.

The accused drug peddler has been identified as Aashiq Hussain Bhat son of Mohammad Ramzan Bhat, a resident of Chersoo.

Meanwhile, a case FIR number 204/2023 under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Awantipora, with further investigation taken up.
