DLSA Ganderbal observes International Literacy Day

Ganderbal: District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal and Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Ganderbal in collaboration with Legal Aid Clinic, School of Legal Studies, Central University of Kashmir observed International Literacy Day today at Moot Court Hall, Department of Law, School of Legal Studies, Central University of Kashmir, Tulmullah, Ganderbal.

 The programme was held under the supervision of Chairman District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal, Ritesh Kumar Dubey and under the guidance of Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal, Nusrat Ali Hakak and JMIC/Munsiff Ganderbal, Mohd Waseem Mirza.

The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of literacy and empower individuals through education.

The programme begin with welcome address and brief deliberation on the subject by Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, Dean, Department of Law, School of Legal Studies, Central University of Kashmir, Tulmullah, Ganderbal who delivered a brief but insightful deliberation on the theme of International Literacy Day.

Advocate Asif Mustafa (Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel), DLSA Ganderbal, who was the guest speaker, shed light on the significance of International Literacy Day. With an enthusiastic audience of students, staff, and faculty members, the event served as a platform to emphasize the role of literacy in fostering social development and reducing inequality.

He emphasized that achieving universal literacy is essential for the overall development of individuals and the advancement of society. He also emphasized that the theme for International Literacy Day 2023 is “Promoting Literacy for a World in Transition.

The event was moderated by Hilal Ahmad Najar, Assistant Professor, Department of Law, School of Legal Studies, Central University of Kashmir, Tulmullah, Ganderbal and incharge Legal Aid Clinic Tulmullah Ganderbal.

 He also captivated the audience with its focus on the importance of literacy in today’s rapidly changing world. He further shedded light on the significance of education and its impact on various aspects of society.

The awareness programme also witnessed various activities, interactive sessions, and presentations from students belonging to different departments of Central University of Kashmir regarding the topic.

Vote of thanks was presented by Insha Yaseen, Assistant Professor, Department of Law, School of Legal Studies, CUK Tulmullah. She expressed gratitude towards all those who contributed to the success of the event, including the DLSA and TLSC Ganderbal, distinguished speakers, and esteemed participants.
