Infiltration Bid Foiled, 2 Militants Killed in Mandi Poonch, says Army

Srinagar: Army on Wednesday said to have foiled an infiltration bid by killing two militants in Mandi area in Poonch district.

“Two militants were observed crossing Line of Control coming towards own side on night 5/6 Sep in Mandi sub sect of Poonch Dist. Joint operation was launched by Indian Army and JKP immediately to intercept the militants”, reads a statement issued to GNS.

“Hostile terrain, dense jungle and steep gradients were utilized by militants to bring down heavy volume of fire on own troops. In the ensuing firefight which continued till next day both militants eliminated”, reads the statement.

“Body of one militant alongwith war-like stores recovered. Search operation for recovering body of second militant in progress”, concludes the statement.
