DEO Ganderbal reviews SSR of Photo Electoral Rolls-2023 in district

Ganderbal, Apr 12: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir who is also the District Election Officer (DEO) today chaired a meeting to review the status of Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Photo Electoral Rolls-2023 in the district.

During the meeting, brief discussion was held on status of receiving claims and objections till date, status of claims and objections received during Special Summary Revision of Panchayat Electoral rolls 2023, Special camps organized, SVEEP for awareness, action taken for identification of gaps and finalizing strategies and timelines, preparedness for dissemination of information in public domain, etc.

The DEO briefed the participants about their role and responsibilities for effective implementation of the SVEEP programme.

Deputy District Election Officer said that during Annual Summary Revision 2022, the district made tremendous efforts through SVEEP and achieved 100% targeted registration of new electors. In this SSR a thorough SVEEP campaign plan has been prepared and will be implemented in letter and spirit across the length and breadth of the district, he added.

While reviewing the status of Special camps held in the district, the DEO gave instructions to EROs, AEROs and BLOs regarding special camps to be organized on 15th April 2023 on war footing basis to ensure no eligible voter is left behind.

Regarding dissemination of information in public domain, EROs were instructed to prepare lists of claims and objections w.r.t 01-04-2023 as qualifying date in Form 9, 10,11,11A and 11B and a copy of such list must be pasted on the notice Boards. Besides, the list of claims and objections received shall be uploaded on the CEO website.

While discussing the role and responsibilities of departments for effective implementation of SVEEP, Chief Education Officer, Ganderbal was asked to monitor overall SVEEP activities in the District and shall submit the Photographic and Video Evidence of all the SVEEP activities in the Ganderbal. The Department of Social Welfare and ICDS was asked to take up SVEEP activities by involving SHGs and Anganwadi workers to mobilize women Voters.

Similarly, the department of Social Welfare and department of Tribal Affairs shall target the New and Young Voters of SC/ ST Community and other minorities besides, the persons with disabilities.

The Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj shall take part in SVEEP activities at the grass roots level by involving PRIs conducting Gram Sabhas and Ward Sabhas, or by conducting door to door campaigns.

Assistant Regional Transport Officer Ganderbal was asked to sensitize the people who travel in the Public transport by distributing the pamphlets among the voters.

Dedicated AEROs and Assistant Director Food, Civil supplies and Consumer Affairs Department shall conduct the campus programme at Degree colleges and sensitize the younger population about the importance of Vote and shall make a regular schedule with the concerned principals for effective SVEEP programme.

The Principals of Govt Degree College Ganderbal/ Kangan and Principal GCET Safapora shall nominate one faculty member as Nodal officer SVEEP and conduct regular programs for the implementation of SVEEP activities.
