DC B’la presides daylong Block Diwas programme at Zaingeer, Sopore

Says Block Diwas is an initiative to bring governance at doorsteps of people

Baramulla, Apr 12: As part of weekly outreach programme, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today presided over a day long Block Diwas programme at Dangerpora, Sopore.

Different stakeholders including PRIs, civil society members, among other prominent citizens of the area marked their participation in the programme.

During the grievance redressal camp, locals and the PRI members called upon the DC and raised various demands of public importance.

With regard to electricity, people sought the intervention of DC for restoration/ upgradation of the HT/LT network in the area. They also demanded that the Zangeer canal be restored for irrigation purposes.

Among other demands, the people also apprised the DC with regard to other major issues of general public which include macadamization and widening of main and link roads, augmentation of health services, implementation of Horticulture schemes at ground level, solid waste management besides other issues of public importance.

The DC gave a patient hearing to all the demands and grievances and assured that all issues shall be taken with the concerned authorities for their timely redressal.

On the occasion, the DC gave on spot directions for redressal of grievances pertaining to social security and the Welfare and Social Welfare department was directed to conduct large awareness among the people for Unique Disability ID cards for the beneficiaries.

With regard to the Solid Waste Management, the DC assured that SWM projects will be executed in a time bound manner. She also exhorted the concerned officers of Irrigation and Flood Control Department to restore Zangeer Canal for irrigation facilities for the larger interest of the people.

Further, the DC directed KPDCL to restore HT-LT transmission lines in a priority for hassle free electricity supply to the people.

While interacting with the public, the DC urged upon them to play an active part so that inclusive and public oriented projects and schemes are framed in larger public interest.

Senior Superintendent of Police Sopore, Shabir Nawab; Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, Shabir Raina; Assistant Commissioner Development and various other concerned officers were present in the programme.
