Two day Integrated Communication and Outreach Program by Central Bureau of Communication concludes in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 25:The two day long Integrated Communication and Outreach Program (ICOP) under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh Srinagar concluded on Wednesday.

The outreach programme which also included a photo exhibition on the freedom struggle of India, was organised for mass awareness about Amrit Mahotsav and different welfare schemes of the government.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jameel Ahmad presided over the proceedings on the concluding day which was dedicated for the awareness about various initiatives being implemented by the departments of Health and Youth Affairs.  Addressing a gathering of health workers, ASHAs, students, volunteers from Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) and Civil Defence, Dr. Jameel in his address appreciated CBC for organising the outreach programme. He presented an overview of various programmes under implementation by the department of health. He said that ASHAs, NYK and Civil Defence volunteers have a key role to play in the development of a healthy society as they are the first responders.

A detailed presentation on the health schemes was provided by Dr. Aasifa Jan, Medical Officer who urged the people to avail the host of services being provided by the department. She made a special reference to Ayushman Bharat-Sehat, Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme & DOTS and programmes for eradicating Leprosy. Dr. Gurmeet, Medical Officer, provided an insight into the other programmes like National Mental Healthcare Programme and National Programme for Control of Blindness.

Sh. Hakeem Abdul Aziz, Deputy Director, Department of Youth Affairs & Sports and Coordinator NYK, Srinagar briefed about the mandate of the NYK and appreciated the work of volunteers while urging them to take the message of development to the grassroots level.

Principal Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh Srinagar Ms Nusrat Bukhari in her address thanked CBC for choosing the school for organising the outreach programme. She said that such programmes are an opportunity to know about the development scenario of the country. She urged the participants to work in whatever capacities they can to take forward the message of development.

A presentation on disaster awareness and management was given by Sh. Rahi Riyaz, Divisional Warden, Civil Defence Kashmir.

Sh. Shahid Mohammad Lone, Field Publicity Officer, CBC said that during the two day outreach programme, the Bureau engaged various stakeholders like field officials from ICDS, NRLM, health workers, ASHAs, students and volunteers from NYK and Civil Defence for mobilisation at the grassroots level regarding awareness about various schemes and programmes for the public welfare.

Sh. Muhammad Sikander, Incharge of CBC’s Srinagar Field Office, thanked the participants and expressed gratitude to district administration and school administration for support and coordination to make the outreach programme successful.

During the two day programme, empanelled Private Registered Troupes of CBC organised theme based cultural programmes for public awareness through traditional and folk media. A stall was also set up by the ICDS department for public awareness, displaying various nutritious food items provided by the department at Anganwadi centres to children, pregnant women, adolescent girls and lactating mothers.
