7th Armed Forces Veterans Day Celebrated At Kupwara Zangli Garrison

Srinagar, Jan 25: A Veterans meet was organised to commemorate 7th Armed Forces Veterans Day on January 25, 2023, in Kupwara.

The event was initially scheduled to take place on January 14, 2023, however it was postponed owing to poor weather that persisted for 12 days in a row and the event finally took place on 25 January, 2023.

The veterans of the Kupwara District were invited to the occasion to foster esprit de corps. The occasion was attended by 142 Ex Service Men, including 11 Veer Naris. The event also included utility stalls from SBI Bank, J&K Bank, Agniveer cell, Udchalo cell and representatives from Records JAK LI Centre. The ceremony began with visit to Vajra Gaatha Hall. Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris laid wreaths at the War Memorial. Ex-servicemen and Veer Naris were given a presentation on the advantages of ECHS and methodology to access free medical treatment from accredited ECHS facilities. It was also conveyed to all the veterans that efforts were underway to establish a Type E ECHS in Kupwara district. The Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara, Shri Doifode Sagar Dattatray, IAS, also delivered a detailed informative speech on government initiatives and welfare programmes for veterans and their wards.

GOC Vajra Division, in his address, conveyed his appreciation to the veterans for their bravery, commitment and sacrifices in the line of duty. GOC recognized the significance of cooperation between the civilian population and the security forces and further encouraged them to undertake their duty of leading the citizens along the path towards development.

On this occasion, 11 Veer Naris were felicitated by GOC Vajra Division and DC Kupwara. Subedar Major Nissar Ahmed (Retd), Zila Sainik board Kupwara, had given the Vote of thanks for organizing such a fruitful program for the Veterans. The day further cemented the already-strong relation between the Indian Army and the Veterans.
