Amarnath Yatra: Jammu ADGP stresses upon night patrolling on NHs, infiltration routes

Jammu, June 1 : In view of the prevailing law and order situation in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and efforts being made by Pakistan to push terrorists from across the International Border and the Line of Control, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh ahead of Shri Amarnath Yatra on Wednesday stressed upon intensifying night patrolling on the national highways and the infiltration routes.

Flanked by IGP CRPF Jammu Sector, P S Ranpise, Singh was chairing security review preparedness for the 43-day Amarnath Yatra starting from June 30.

“Organise night patrolling on National Highway and infiltration routes regularly and maintain close liaison with all forces deployed in their area of jurisdictions to foil the nefarious designs of anti-national elements and their mentors across the border,” Singh told officers and subordinates.

On the border management front, the ADGP stressed upon the District SSP Jammu, Samba and Kathua to lay Joint Nakas and ensure patrolling on all the probable infiltration routes and adequate deployed 24X7 on all drone dropping points as well as on terrorists pick points identified as these three districts are more vulnerable to cross border infiltration.

He also directed that all Border Police Stations and Police Posts and Nakas should be strengthened and proper briefing be given to men by Supervisory officers regularly regarding the nature of duties to be performed by them.

He further stressed upon all the officers that proper briefing be given to the officers and officials to be deployed for ROP duty to maintain utmost alertness so that smooth passage is given to all the vehicles going for the yatra.

Thereafter threadbare discussion was held on the various security related issues pertaining to the Yatra and for ensuring enhanced security measures on NH-44 and infiltration routes on IB and LOC.

All the officers present in the meeting have been directed to maintain the highest level of alertness and synergy among themselves and also to share the intelligence related information directly bearing to Yatra on a real time basis to foil the nefarious designs of anti-national elements and their mentors across the IB.

During the meeting, a power point presentation was given by concerned district SSsP with regard to the Police/Security arrangement planned by them to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the yatra.

The SSsP of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur and Ramban were directed to ensure adequate police and security in their respective districts particularly at Base Camp Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, Base camp Chanderkote, Lodgment centres, Langers, Reception centres etc during Yatra.

Besides, SSsP Jammu, Samba and Kathua was directed to ensure round the clock deployment 24X7 at important locations, QRTs/ROPs, laterals, important lodgment centres and other important locations.
