DC B’la presides over Block Diwas at Bijhama; listens to public issues, demands

Directs concerned for timely resolution of public grievances

Baramulla, April 13: Continuing the process of special Public Outreach Programme under the ongoing Gram Swaraj Month across the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar today presided over a Block Diwas programme at Govt Higher Secondary School Bijhama, here.

SDM Uri, Harvinder Singh, DDC Member, various concerned officers besides different stakeholders including PRIs, civil society members, among other prominent citizens of the area were present on the occasion.

During the grievance redressal camp, locals and the PRI members called upon the DC and raised various demands of public importance.

The delegations from different areas put forth their issues and grievances which include macadamization of roads, improvement in water supply and augmentation of electricity.

They also demanded a tower installation in the said area adding that the students suffer as there remain the network problems and students do not have access to the internet.

The DC gave a patient hearing of all the demands and grievances and assured that all issues shall be taken with the concerned authorities for their timely redressal.

While interacting with the public, the DC urged upon them to play an active part so that inclusive and public oriented projects and schemes are framed in larger public interest.

He said that their role will prove pivotal in identifying priority projects.

The DC also assured PRIs and others that the issues and demands they have put forth and registered will be seriously looked into.

Moreover, the DC also gave on spot directions for redressal of many issues.

Earlier, DC inspected various stalls installed by line departments including Animal Husbandry, Rural Development Department and NRLM at the venue depicting and demonstrating various kinds of services, products and schemes meant for public welfare.
