Srinagar, Mar 31 :A three day workshop  organised  in collaboration with ‘Praja Foundation’  that  aimed to  empowerment & capacity building of Municipal  councilors concluded today.

The broad objective of the program was to enable the participants to broaden their knowledge base concept of Urban Governance.

The workshop  highlighted  and helped in  understanding roles and responsibilities of Municipal Councilors and functions of Srinagar Municipal Corporation as per SMC Act..

Three  module of the workshop was divided into two phases.

In one phase the workshop  focused on introduction of Praja  74th Amendment, Urban Governance and how to read any Act .

In second phase the workshop focused  on explaining The Jammu And Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act (JKMCA)which helped to understand their roles and responsibilities .

Priyanka Sharma and Balwant Kirar held various sessions including  Three  Tier System of Government, 74th constitution Amendment Act, Method of reading an Act and feed back and discussions were held during the course of workshop.

Besides Corporates, Senior SMC Officers including Joint Commissioner Administration Riyaz Ahmed Shah   Joint Commissioner Administration Syed Abul Qasim,  Mudasir Hussain Chaudhary and others attended workshop.

Commissioner SMC  Athar Amir Khan held interactive  session with the Corporates.

The heads of the various wings including Joint Commissioner Administration  Riyaz Ahmed Shah,  Joint Commissioner Administration Syed Abul Qasim, Joint Commissioner Works Rajinder Singh,  Joint Commissioner Planning Ghulam Hassan Mir, Secretary SMC Mudasir Hussain Chaudhary had an educative and learning session with Corporates by explaining in detail the work mechanism of their concerned wings.

Besides exchanging of information and ideas discussions  were  also held on working of committees and raising of relevant issues in the Corporation or Committee meetings.

Later feedback and discussion session were  also held in the concluding hour.
