Three drug peddlers arrested by Kupwara Police, 80 grams Contraband recovered

Kupwara, Mar 26: In yet another breakthrough on its continuing efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Kupwara Police today arrested 03 notorious drug peddlers and recovered contraband narcotics from their possession.

The trio was arrested by a team of Police Post Awoora led by SI Azhar Shakeel who had laid a naka at Water Point, Awoora. During the checking, Police team apprehended 03 persons namely,
Aahiq Ahmad Khan son of Ab Hamid Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat son of Ahmad Bhat and Mushtaq Ahmed Khan son of Gh Rasool Khan, all residents of Mir Muqaam, Awoora who were moving under suspicious circumstances and trying to evade police presence. During their personal search brown sugar like substance weighing 40 grams, 20 grams and 20 grams respectively was recovered from their possession . During initial questioning they disclosed that they were contacted by some addicts of Awoora and were on way to deliver the drugs to them.

Taking cognisance of the matter, Police has registered a case FIR No.14/2022 under section 8/21 NDPS Act in PS Trehgam against the peddlers. Some more arrests in the case can not be ruled out in the coming days .

Kupwara Police appeals the general public to cooperate in sharing the information related to drug abuse so that appropriate steps can be initiated and a drug free environment is created.
