DC Anantnag acts tough on complaints regarding overcharging by Brick Kilns

Anantnag, Mar 25: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla today chaired a joint meeting of officers and brick kiln owners, here regarding complaints being received on account of overcharging by brick kiln owners.

Dr Singla directed ADC Anantnag to ensure that there is complete adherence to the notified rates and any brick kiln owner found violating the norms should be taken to task. He said there should be zero tolerance in this regard. He said that regular checks must be maintained to ensure that the bricks are sold at notified rates.

The DC also directed the officials to lodge FIRs against brick kiln owners who have been found violating the norms and overcharging customers.

Addressing brick kiln owners, the DC issued stern warning that anybody found flouting norms will be penalized. He further said that the rates have been decided taking into account the costs and after ascertaining the economic feasibility as per market conditions and as such should be followed in letter and spirit.

He also ordered suspension of a patwari who was allegedly aiding certain persons in illegal construction of a brick kiln and solicited a detailed enquiry report in the matter.

The DC also directed the officials to lodge FIRs against brick kiln owners who have been found violating the norms and overcharging customers.

The meeting was attended by GM DIC, AD Food, CAO, ALC among others.
