Deptt of Handicrafts, Handloom celebrates Int’l Women’s Day at Udyog Bhawan Jammu

Jammu, Mar 8: The Department of Handicrafts and Handloom, Jammu today organised an event to celebrate International Women’s Day here at Udyog Bhawan Jammu.

Director, Industries and Commerce, Jammu, Anoo Malhotra and Managing Director, SICOP, Samita Sethi were the special invitees, besides Director, Handicrafts and Handloom, Jammu, Dr Vikas Gupta was also present on the occasion.

The programme was organised to celebrate International Women’s Day   and educate the craft women associated with the department about various schemes meant for the uplift of Artisans and Weavers in Jammu and Kashmir.

Anoo Malhotra and Samita Sethi also spoke and appreciated the role of women entrepreneurs in promotion of the horticulture and handloom sector in Jammu and Kashmir and told the Artisans and Weavers to gain as much from different government schemes.

 Director, Handicrafts and Handloom, Jammu, Dr Vikas Gupta briefed about the role played by the women in the uplift  of family and society.

 The women artisans and weavers, working in different crafts such as Phoolkari Emb., Chamba Embroidery, Modern Art, Basohli Paintings, Bamboo craft, Handloom weaving etc were also felicitated by presenting mementos.

Deputy Director Planning, Deputy Director Training, Assistant Director, Horticulture and Handloom, Samba and Jammu were also present on the occasion.
