Srinagar-Jammu highway opens for traffic

Srinagar, Jan 10: Srinagar-Jammu national highway was reopened for vehicular traffic after remaining closed for three days due to landslides triggered at various places were cleared after weather improved on Monday, a traffic police office said on Monday.

The only surface link connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country was closed for vehicular traffic due to landslides triggered at Cafeteraia Morh, Mehar, Maroge, Duggi Pulli, khooni Nallah and several other places on the highway on Friday following heavy rains.

Meanwhile, several other far flung areas remained closed and cut off due to the heavy accumulation due to recent snowfall, he said.
The historical Mughal road connecting Shopian district in south Kashmir to Rajouri in Jammu division has remained closed for vehicular traffic due to heavy accumulation of snow since December 23 last year.
