19 killed in New York's building fire

New York, Jan 10:  Nine children among 19 people were killed when a fire broke out in a New York’s apartment building.

According to BBC report, 32 people were sent to the hospital, among them several’s condition is critical.

Around 200 firefighters were rushed to control the fire which, according to officials, was started by a malfunctioning electric heater.

Though only two floors were on fire, the smoke had spread everywhere, said Daniel Nigro, Fire department Commissioner.

“Members found victims on every floor in stairwells and were taking them out in cardiac and respiratory arrest,” he added.
