India’s active Covid-19 cases tally falls, lowest in 248 days

New Delhi, Nov 1: India has reported 12,541 Covid-19 cases in past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 34,285,814, and the active cases 1,58,817, lowest in 248 days, according to the Union Health Ministry on Monday.

In last 24 hours, 251 fatalities were reported, taking the death toll to 458,437,

The Ministry said the recovery rate has touched 98.20 per cent as 12,718 patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,36,68,560.

“The active caseload falls below 2 lakh-mark and is presently at 1,58,817, lowest in 248 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.46 per cent of the country’s total positive cases since March,” the ministry pointed out.

It further said the daily positivity rate is 1.42 per cent, which is less than 2 per cent for last 28 days, whereas weekly positivity rate is 1.17 per cent which also remains less than 2 per cent for the last 38 days now.

The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. India has so far conducted over 60.92 crore tests across the country.

As many as 12,77,542 vaccine doses have been administered in the last 24 hours.

The total vaccine coverage exceeded 112 crore as per provisional reports till 7 a.m. Monday,” the Ministry said.

“More than 13 crore (13,45,61,536) balance and unutilised Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered,” it said.
