Aligarh, Sep 14 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh Uttar Pradesh State University here on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister also reviewed the Aligarh node of the Defence Corridor. He saw the exhibition models of the Industrial Corridor (Aligarh Node) and of the new University.

The PM also saw presentations on the new Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh state University and on Aligarh Node of Defence Corridor.

UP Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Dy CM Dinesh Sharma and others attended this function held at Lodha village, the spot of the new University.

The State university is in the name of a great freedom fighter, educationist and a social reformer Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh. He was an eminent Jat king of the region.

Through this University, BJP is trying to target the Jat community before the 2022 assembly polls.

This university will be set up in an area of ​​92.27 acres, for the first phase of the construction of administrative building, academic building, hostel, residential building etc. of the university, construction works worth Rs 101.41 crore have been approved.

The new University will have affiliation of 395 colleges in Aligarh Circle covering Aligarh, Kasganj, Hathras and Etah districts.

PM on February 21, 2018 had announced the Defence Corridor in UP with six nodes to be developed which are Aligarh, Agra, Kanpur, Chitrakoot, Jhansi and Lucknow.

Land allotment process for Aligarh node has been completed and land of 143 acres has been allotted to 20 companies. These companies will invest over Rs 1245 crore, where over 6700 jobs would be generated.

The 20 defence manufacturing companies will produce small arms, armaments, drones, aerospace metal components, Anti-drone systems, defense packaging and other industry requirements.
