Covid-19: India reports 31,222 new cases, 290 deaths

New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) India logged 31,222 new cases and 290 deaths due to the Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

The daily positivity rate of the infection fell to 2.05 per cent in the country while the active cases have reduced under 4 lakh days after treading above it.

The tally of active cases was declined by 12,010 in the last 24 hours, as per the health ministry’s bulletin.

The cumulative active caseload now stands at 3,92,864 The share of active cases now stands at 1.19 per cent of the total Covid-19 cases, the figures showed.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated last week that Kerala and Maharashtra are driving around 75 per cent of the total active cases.

“Kerala is contributing 60 per cent as over 2.3 lakh cases are present in the state while Maharashtra has added 15 per cent with more than 55,000 cases to the tally of active infection,” union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan had informed during a press briefing held on Thursday.

The latest addition has pushed the cumulative case tally to 3,30,58,843 whereas the death toll has climbed to 4,41,042 according to the data.

Meanwhile, 42,942 more people recovered from the Covid-19 in the last 24 hours making the recovery registry climb to 3,22,24,937. As per the data, the recovery rate is now reduced to 97.48 per cent.

The union ministry stated that the weekly positivity rate (2.56 per cent) has been under 3 per cent for 74 days now. The daily positivity rate is reported to be less than 3 per cent for over a week now.

A total of 53,31,89,348 samples were tested up to September 6, 2021, for Covid-19. Of these, 15,26,056 samples were tested on Monday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Meanwhile, more than 1.13 Crore Covid-19 vaccine doses were administered on Monday. This landmark has been achieved thrice in the last 11 days, the ministry informed.

“With the administration of 1,13,53,571vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, country’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage surpassed the cumulative figure of 69.90 crore (69,90,62,776),” it added.
