Foreign Secretary meets top US officials, holds talks on Indo-US ties, Afghanistan

Washington, Sep 4 (UNI) Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla met with a wide spectrum of top officials in Washington to discuss ways to advance the Indo-US bilateral strategic partnership and also reviewed regional developments, including the situation in Afghanistan and the Indo-Pacific region.

Shringla met with Jon Finer, Principal Deputy NSA, and with Colin Kahl, the US Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. He also interacted with strategic experts from prominent US think tanks on regional and global issues and different facets of the India-US strategic partnership.

Separately, he also interacted with leading US companies under the aegis of the US-India Business Council on India’s economic recovery and steps taken by the government to facilitate ease of doing business and FDI across sectors.

“Foreign Secretary @harshvshringla met @DOD_Policy Colin Kahl and discussed ways to advance India-US strategic and defense partnerships,” the Indian Embassy in the US tweeted.

“Foreign Secretary @harshvshringla had a very useful exchange with Jon Finer, Principal Deputy NSA @WHNSC on further consolidating the India-US strategic partnership. They reviewed regional developments, including the situation in Afghanistan and Indo-Pacific region,” the MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted.

“Foreign Secretary @harshvshringla interacted with strategic experts from prominent US think tanks on regional and global issues and different facets of India-US strategic partnership,” the Indian embassy posted.

“Foreign Secretary @harshvshringla interacted with leading US companies under the aegis of @USIBC on India’s economic recovery and steps taken by Govt to facilitate ease of doing business and FDI across sectors,” the spokesperson said in another tweet.

“He appreciated proactive efforts of USIBC and Global Task Force in supporting India’s COVID response and advancing the India-US business partnership,” the MEA spokesperson further said.
