Srinagar, Sep 02: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday rejected any comparison between the National Conference (NC) and BJP protests in Srinagar, saying the two parties were treated differently by the administration and police.
Speaking with reporters, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), CM Omar said there is no comparison in the manner in which the two parties were treated by the administration and police. “One was facilitated and one was brutally repressed,” he said.
“One was facilitated and one was brutally repressed,” he said.He alleged that NC workers were dragged and injured during the protest, with some of them requiring hospital treatment.
“The difference in the treatment of the two protests was visible to everyone. You saw BJP being allowed to protest and National Conference not being allowed,” he said.
He also said everyone saw how easily the media were able to interview the Leader of the Opposition during the BJP protest.
The Chief Minister said the contrasting treatment reflected the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
“If you want to march to the Chief Minister’s residence, you are allowed. If you want to gherao the secretariat, you are allowed. But if you want to protest outside the BJP office, you will not be allowed,” he said—(KNO)
